El Salvador is stepping up its Bitcoin initiatives by launching a certification program to educate its public servants on Bitcoin (BTC).
As announced by El Salvador’s National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC), 80,000 government employees will be provided with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage Bitcoin-related public policies.
The Bitcoin module is part of a 160-hour course titled “Certification in Public Administration 1,” which covers various concepts, laws, and skills related to public administration.

Stacy Herbert, the director of ONBTC, believes that equipping civil servants with Bitcoin expertise will have a “compounding effect” on El Salvador’s economic growth. She also hinted at future educational initiatives and added:
These education projects are very low time preference commitments to the long term success of El Salvador and its Bitcoin (& tech) policy.
The certification program is being administered by the Higher School of Innovation in Public Administration (ESIAP), an institution established by President Nayib Bukele in August 2021.
This educational push underscores El Salvador’s dedication to integrating Bitcoin into its national strategy and ensuring that its public servants are well-equipped to manage the associated challenges and opportunities.
President Bukele has also recently shared the news about the revival of the country’s Bitcoin City project, which envisions a city powered entirely by Bitcoin and free from all taxes except value-added tax.
