Sun Pump’s success is particularly impressive given that it was launched just 12 days ago, on August 9. Since then, there have been over 25,000 memecoins created, with total revenues surpassing $1.6 million.
This surge in activity on Sun Pump benefited the Tron network as a whole, as it reportedly recorded $3.84 million in revenue over the past 24 hours.
The impact of memecoins has been the topic of various debates among crypto enthusiasts, with many considering them to be damaging to the industry. In contrast, Tron founder Justin Sun shared a more optimistic view about these digital assets on X:
The success of meme tokens isn’t by chance. When every dev can build a community through a fair launch, gain everyone’s support, and foster enthusiasm and loyalty, the community can share in the success of the cryptocurrency.
Nonetheless, Sun Pump’s quick rise highlights the growing role of memecoins, even as discussions continue about their broader impact.
In other news, Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin has recently made a $532,000 donation to charity from all the animal-themed memecoins that were sent to him over the past year.
